Having been aboard the Martha R 420 this past Oct for 10 days, I can empathize with your battery and genset issues. The owner had modified his 420 to allow both banks to be available for house and/or motor. This allowed us to have longer power without the genset coming on and I believe also avoided the problem of charging only one side noted in this post.
