He now has a Canon G1X. I can recommend the G series from Canon if you want something more than a point and shoot and less than a whiz bang digital SLR with all the lens changing possibilities. Trish

I did however discover that if you hold down the on/off button for 20-30 seconds it reset the camera settings to default mode and this also corrected the lens error fault. Give it a try as it might save you having to buy a new one. Gordon.
