It’s been a few days since I last blogged. Now the family have returned to their respective homes life has got back to ‘normal’.<\/p>\n

ie, hanging out with and helping the family here, getting on with the paperwork, some entertainment. Some random picks from among all this :<\/p>\n

\n
• Skype – Had a rare call from Sam. \u00a0He seems to be doing fine in Australia. \u00a0He’s definitely looking to extend his visa there and considering residence. \u00a0Looks like we may have lots of reasons to return to Australia. \u00a0Frequently.<\/li>\n
• Taxes – got back to doing this. \u00a0Ran into some more road blocks and discovered I’d lost some previous work. \u00a0Progress remains slow.<\/li>\n
• Future – done some planning for our exit from South Africa. \u00a0We’re thinking of a road trip down to Cape Town before flying out. \u00a0I’ve also booked into the regional lymphoma support group for their April meeting and the charities AGM in May. \u00a0Always good to get more informed. \u00a0My doctor is the keynote speaker for the AGM so I’ll see him again there.<\/li>\n
• Made more progress towards announcement 3 which could now be hours or days away. \u00a0Or weeks. \u00a0I mention it now as we had a Twilight Zone moment. \u00a0We had to get a document notarized. \u00a0The only notary in town is a lawyer. \u00a0Ok, more $$$$, but it had to be done. \u00a0At the end of the session he said he doesn’t charge for notarizing (cue Twightlight Zone music). \u00a0A lawyer giving his time away free?\u00a0\u00a0I’m still not sure we weren’t dreaming. \u00a0Nice chap though.<\/li>\n
• Entertainment – We saw Les Mis last night. \u00a0Well produced movie and great acting. \u00a0Just not our thing. \u00a0I’ve got back to playing Ingress. \u00a0For those who have a remote idea (Frank – that’s you I think), while the family were here, the opposition took over all of Grahamstown. \u00a0They’ve been out of town enabling me to take the whole town back getting me to level 7. \u00a0Now I’ve been knocked back. \u00a0All fun.<\/li>\n
• Shoulder – The impingement remains painful. \u00a0I’ve been back to the osteopath. \u00a0The previous injection has increased the range of motion before the pain really kicks in but no eliminated it. \u00a0The next step is physiotherapy. \u00a0There is no point starting that here so he wrote up a referral note which I can use in the UK. \u00a0Nothing more until then.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n

  So it’s kind of life as usual. \u00a0Of course the main reason for being here at the moment is to be with my father who is quite ill. \u00a0He’s doing well and not in pain. \u00a0He is delighted with the latest development which is a home care visit each day, including a massage. \u00a0It’s fantastic being able to have this time together at this difficult time.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
