Back in NJ I have been able to fix the Delivery Plot on the main page so I have now replaced it.  Now that we’re out of “Island Time” it’s back to watching Dignity’s progress daily.  As of the fix last night, she had 1,600 nautical miles to go.

Dignity is heading west. If there’s an undiscovered mid-Atlantic island I am sure Dignity will pull in to fix a loose screw or check an erroneous indicator.

In the meantime we are almost at the end of our BVI trip. Click here for our log.

Dignity is currently in Cape Verde with some ‘loose bolts’.

If you add up all the bad points with the first set of 420s then it looks concerning.

If you add up all the good points – it all looks pretty good.

• Sails at nearly 10 knots in under 18 knots of wind (actual experience in BVIs)
• Motors at 6.5 knots into 25 knots of wind and choppy seas (actual experience from owner of hull 23)
• The space is an absolute dream. (Having spent over 2 weeks on a 45 foot Privilege cat, we visited a 420 with 8 adults aboard – 10 including us. Internally it was much larger and spacious than the bigger boat)

Getting better. Dignity covered 141nm in the last day. She’s now just off the western tip of Tenerife. I’m now pretty sure that she’s not stopping in Las Palmas as this port is 80nm to the east. It’s still not clear yet if she’s going to pass on through or take a stop in Tenerife. From the uplink she had a heading of 195 degrees which would suggest that she may be rounding the corner for a stop.

Once we’re out of the Canaries it’s merely the Atlantic and the trade winds between her and Tortola.

So Dignity covered 132nm since yesterday.  The big question today is where is she heading?  She’s not heading directly to Las Palmas – more like Tenerife.  However, this could be explained by the tack she’s on.  Alternatively (slim hope) she’s not stopping and will sail on through the Canaries.
