English Harbour Pics

We’ve moved around the corner to Freeman Bay. Managed to secure a connection so here’s some photos of English Harbour.

It’s the rum speaking

“Oddly enough, after living 2 months on Dignity, today was the first day of true sailing.”

Odd for sure given we put in plenty of miles sailing when my parents were visiting and we did the round trip to Nevis from St Martin. Got to stop blogging when the rum has been on the table.

No decent internet connection here so can’t go back and fix last blog. Life in the sticks.

Sailing (Jan 2)

Oddly enough, after living 2 months on Dignity, today was the first day of true sailing.

We left Five Island Harbour around 8am. Sailing out of the bay and down the west coast was quite slow due to the winds being masked by the island. Once out of the lee we had between 15-20 knots of wind which had us nicely tacking to the east to make our way to English Harbour.

We arrived early afternoon and found and anchorage in the NW end of the harbour. We took a walk around Nelson’s Dockyard and then over to Falmouth Harbour. Back on the boat we lazed around until early evening where we barbecues burgers and sausages. Helen made cocktails but lost the lot due to a miscommunication with the blender. Right now the kids are ashore doing there own thing while we scoff the remainder of the Xmas chocolate.

Communications are strained as we’re surrounded by hills. This may go out late.

PS. Maintenance activity has dwindled to basic checks. We’re much more relaxed than ever. (Jim – seen what you’re waiting for?)

Onwards to English Harbour

Out of curiosity I checked for internet signals as we’d left the antenna up when motoring around to Five Islands Harbour. Lo and behold we have a clear and stable connection from a resort just over a mile away. So here are our pics from yesterday of the bay and our bonfire on the beach.

Today we’ll be sailing to English Harbour on the south side of the island. We’ll probably anchor there for a couple of nights so we can explore Nelson’s Dockyard, both English Harbour and Falmouth Harbour as well as take the walk to Shirley Heights which everyone recommends.

Five Islands Harbour

New Year done. Provisioned up this morning for 2 weeks. Left Jolly Harbour midday and now chilling round the corner in Five Islands Harbour. Had a beer. Listening to music. Not much else to do. So we’re off to collect wood for a dusk bonfire on the beach. That’s all. That’s all we need.
