  • Pass the parcel

I’ve just done some further investigation and it looks like our parts have been moved from the Dublin Express onto the Bahia Castillo, presumably somewhere in Panama.

  • Another week on

We’ve had quite a busy week since moving back down to Chesham. Been catching up with a few friends. One highlight was meeting up with Mike, Ann and Jossette from Callisto yesterday in London. We shared breakfast together then went for a walk around Primrose Hill and Regents Park. We finished off with a pint in a nice old pub. Doesn’t get much better. This marks the first time we’ve met up with cruising friends off water.

In the afternoon we visited Tring on the way to visiting and staying the night with some friends from our old karate club.

Today we visited John and Ella in London and met Ella’s mum, Penne, for the first time. She’s here for the birth which, I can report, has yet to occur.

One item of progress over the last week was learning that our parts for the “sex change” are now in transit to New Zealand. They are aboard the container vessel Dublin Express due to arrive in Auckland on February 7th. The vessel can be tracked with the following link : http://www.sailwx.info/shiptrack/shipposition.phtml?call=DDSB2

  • A week on

We did have a nice pub dinner with Ben and very much enjoyed his company. Before we left the next morning he showed me a go-cart I had apparently built many years ago. Before seeing it I could not recall ever making it but on looking at it it did look familiar. This would have been in my early 20s when the kids were very young. Just shows how much of ones life disappears down memory plug hole.

After visiting Ben we headed towards Cheltenham to meet a friend of ours who has recently had a heart scare. As we had time we stopped off in Gloucester to have a walk around. There we parked near the historic docks, explored the area then walked over to the cathedral.

We spent the rest of the day with our friend Johnny catching up as one does. The next morning we headed further north to visit and stay with Helen’s final sister, Joanna and her husband Alan who leave near Warrington.

We’ve been here since last Monday generally relaxing going out most days for some activity. We’ve been on a few walks, had a go on the golf driving range (I was rubbish) and been out to the movies to see The Girl With The Dragon Tattoo which we really enjoyed.

My flu/cold has improved considerably but now Helen’s sneezing all the time. What joy.

Today we’re heading back south. We’ll be back at Helen’s sister Betty’s this evening then back off on some personal business for a couple of days.

I have upload some previous pictures. The last few entries have been updated and the albums added.

  • Moving North

We managed to get out for another house viewing (very nice) and a walk yesterday near Lands End. I got out of breath rather quickly, presumably due to my lungs being partially full of stuff thicker than air. But it was good to get out and experience the rugged landscape.

Today we left Cornwall and headed up to Yate where Ben, the husband of Helen’s late cousin, lives. We had a chance to visit Liz on our last trip and say our farewells. It’s nice to see Ben again and see him well.

Ben is an avid blog reader so I thought it only proper he had his home geotagged. See above.

We plan to go out for a pub dinner tonight. Should be good.

  • Got the lurgies

We had a good night out New Years Eve staying in a pub with live music until about 1am. We eventually made it to bed around 2am after one or two final nightcaps. New Years Day can speak for itself after the night before.

We’ve been out an and about a bit since then. We’ve seen a couple of properties in town that are up for sale (out of curiosity). A few days ago we went further afield visiting Trelissick Garden in the morning followed by lunch / afternoon in nearby Falmouth.

Through all this we’ve had the odd sniffle something we’ve grown quite unused to in the last three years of living in the tropics.

For the last few days I’ve taken a big turn for the worse and been more or less bedridden with what feels like a combined assault of flu and cold. Lois, Helen’s sister, has described my condition in terms of the plague. We had planned to be leaving Cornwall today but that is now postponed until I’ve had a good nights rest and a clear day. I had felt a lot better yesterday evening but regressed overnight.

Fortunately this is all just an inconvenience. With two very good friends having much greater health challenges I count myself very lucky. Not sure if you’re reading this Anne and Johnny but we do hope you get well soon.
