This morning, I was busy putting together a blog entry covering our february itinerary when we lost power to the house. Fortunately I was working on my laptop so the battery saved my work. But I was unable to post. However, this allows me to pretend we are out at sea and our only contact is via short wave. Ok, so I’m using my phone and I’m in my living room but I have been for a long (for me) run and my legs are shakey. You make what you can from each moment.

The Smell of Fresh Bread
A realtor of ours who once spent a year cruising the Caribbean has extolled the value of a breadmaker aboard on several occasions. He says there is nothing like waking up to the smell of fresh bread baking. There are many who may think this is an extravagance aboard a boat but anyway, last weekend we decided to get one to see what it’s like. I made a loaf last Sunday evening which went down well although was a little stodgy as I think I skimmed on the yeast. Last night I set it up so we could wake up to fresh bread. Problem is, I woke early this morning and have had to wait while the smell of cooking bread drives me mad with hunger. So all I have to do is close my eyes and imagine we’re on the boat. And of course wait. Mmmmmmm.

Blogging by email
I have now been able to set up the ability to post blog entries via email. This means I can post entries without the need for a browser. This message is being sent from my phone. It also means I can post blog entries using the email facility over short wave – when I eventually get this sorted out

New Blog Software
I have changed my blogging software. A ran into difficulties embedding code (links to albums, etc.) with b2evolution. With WordPress, I can do these things so I have switched. Given that both were based on a sql database, I was able to figure out how to download the messages I had put into the old blog and import them into the new. I have also been able to go back over all the BVI blogs and enlarge the photos as this new tool supports a wider screen.
Hope you like it.
