We’re all safely back in NJ. Ben and Sam have been dropped off in New Brunswick and we’re back to staying with our friends Anne and John (our debt to them accumulates).
We actually stayed last night back in Sam’s place where this trip all started. During our absence his house mates all changed. We met a couple of the new ones. One is a fresh out of college music teacher who majored in classical piano and has a room full with his electric piano and acoustic/electrical guitars. We met the girl who has taken the room Sam has to walk through to get to his. She must be very tolerant to have got that room. We also learned that one of the other tenants is some sort of producer in the music industry. Sounds like Sam has been very lucky. Not all went well though. Although his car appears fixed (by looking through a grubby window) the garage where it is housed was shut this morning so he could not pick it up. Being a long weekend he won’t be able to get it before school starts. Furthermore, he thinks he left his school schedule and other notes in there so he’s going to have to find an alternate source for this information before lessons start on Tuesday.
Ben was simply pleased (as punch) to get back to his girlfriend.
We have learned that Air India, with whom we booked our flights to the Uk, are no longer flying the route and we now have to arrange a refund as well as book alternate flights. Given the delays around getting started with our investment property this may allow us to work around this a bit without incurring a penalty for changing flights. Need to work through the o/s issues quickly next week.
That’s about it. We’ve worked through our paperwork that built up while we were away. We believe some still went to our old place so we’ll need to pick that up Monday when we head back to visit the boys one last time before school starts.
Tomorrow we are at a bit of a loose end. I’m hoping to arrange one or two viewings of my car – hopefully to sell. Otherwise we may go for a walk with our newly strengthened legs.
