Right now we’ve parked ourselves in the Rodeway Inn in Rahway, NJ. Basically it’s a low cost motel right off route 1. We’re here until we close on our investment property which looks to be going through next week. We have some access to the place so we can plan our efforts once we take ownership. We may also be allowed to get ahead on some minor tasks such as ceiling painting.
Given the delays our original plan to head south after the boat show needs to be shelved. We still want to visit the show but we’ll have to come back up north afterwards. With our headsail also being delayed it looks like we won’t move aboard Dignity until the last week in the month. Minor issues when looking at the big picture.
Living in the motel is helping us downsize our living. We’re keeping to a budget for our eating which is what we need to do going forward. We haven’t had a drop to drink (alcoholic) since we returned which is making us feel a bit more healthy.
I’m using this time to finally catch up on converting our old videos to DVD. I have the equipment but time will make everything obsolete so getting this to a data standard will keep us future proof. The initial plan is to create two raw dumps of each old tape. We’ll leave one dump on land and the other on the boat. In time we can create edited clips from these and create more watchable DVDs and maybe post some on YouTube.
Yesterday we had a bit of spare time after talking to the builder about repair plans for our new property. We used this to go for a walk. Randomly we picked High Rock Park in Staten Island. Turned out to be a great choice as we walked for nearly two hours and met noone except right at the end.
