Fingers crossed. We cannot even begin to think how it must have been out there. Let’s hope that all is well
and Peter is found to be well and in good spirits. From Erin and Robin friends of Helen and Steve Sothwood
Areport in NZ newspaper today, An Airforce Orion yesterday made contact with Troutbridge while it was searching for missing Kiribati fishermen. The skipper reported he had suffered hull and rig damage and was leaking but the pumps on board were working effectively and he was carrying on to Noumea.
I’m now in Noumea. I’m fine, just well and truly knackered. The boat is a bit of a mess though. If anybody has Calypso’s boat email address please contact them and let them know I’m OK. The Orion aircraft tried to contact them but he wasn’t sure if he got through OK.
You know it was bad when I say I eventually became grateful for the lightning, it let me see where the hell the swell was coming from and get stern-to. As Helen and Steve know, you can;t just shut up shop and go below with a cat, you have to be more proactive. I had no time (literally) to deploy a sea anchor, the wind went from pleasant to burn-out the wind generator in a minute or so!
