Now that we’re getting closer and closer to the wire, thinking about what gear we really want on the boat early on is being sharpened. Some things that were first on are now delayed. Some things we were to delay are being thought about now.
Out
Upgrading the music system is being deferred. I still like the idea of the Poly-Planar multi zone system but we found the system that Dignity has pretty good already. This will be one of those items that can be easily reviewed after 6 months.
TV. This was never in and still isn’t. Never missed it once in three weeks. Next step – live without it for six months.
In
Washing machine. We’ll probably buy this on land and ship to St Martin.
Watermaker. Last time I looked prices in St Martin were similar to mainland. Will research prices again and if they are still similar I’ll buy there.
Chartplotter / radar. I caved in. Gadget geek can’t go without this. My current fave is the Garmin touch screen. The 5015 is probably a stretch. The 5012 looks to be it.
I also want to get some decent fishing gear. Not sure yet where best to get this. Will research after Atlantic trip. May get some tips from rest of crew.
