Phew – another busy weekend and it’s not yet over. Our older son, Ben, came to visit making this our last weekend back together in this house. On Saturday I cleaned the pool (for the last time) and mowed the lawn (for the last time). I also sorted out all of my tools finally determining which will go to St Martin, which we will take to BVIs and which we give to Ben and Sam. I also took a a van load of our stuff to charity – the earlier plan to give to the Vietnam Veterans was thwarted as they don’t pickup in our area. Helen spent Saturday cleaning the rooms we have emptied.
Today I took Sam to Philadelphia where we looked at a second hand electric piano which we decided was ok and bought. Driving back I realized this would be the last time we’ll drive north on the NJ Turnpike for some time – another last.
We had a bit of R&R this afternoon. I watched the German Grand Prix – congrats Hamilton for an excellent win and great entertainment. We also went to see the latest Batman movie which was brilliant. After the movie we dropped off a lot of furniture we’re giving Sam into Ben’s basement in lieu of finding Sam accomodation nearby. On the way home we stopped by to look at one possible place for Sam to rent.
Tomorrow we’re hiring a truck (lorry) so we can take most of our remaining furniture to either auction or our friends. I’m hoping by the end of tomorrow we’ll have worked through all the questions pertaining to our potential purchase of a rental property.
It all feels endless but the list of things to do and the number of things around us is getting smaller by the day. Next weelend will feel a breeze after everything to date. It won’t be all relaxing as I’ll be preparing my prized convertable for sale over the subsequent week.
For the first time in about a month I got a serious twinge of excitement yesterday. Made me realize how long we’ve been slogging through the ‘getting there’ without feeling the thrill of the goal. Having got all excited I spent a little time plotting possible routes from the BVIs to the islands to the east. Won’t help us at all for 3 months but I do like looking at charts.
