Just wanted to acknowledge and say “Thanks” to those folks who have left us feedback messages. I started this site to familiarize myself with managing a website as this would be our primary means of communicating our experiences to friends and family once we head off. It’s encouraging to know that people are already viewing the site and finding it interesting and helpful. One realization is that blogging using self-made pages is a chore. It’s not so hard adding individual messages but the grouping into months is a bit tedious each month. Doesn’t have to be done but I think it makes the site more organized. I keep meaning to see if I can incorporate a blogging web-tool onto this site to make it easier. Another alternative is to simply use one of the many blogging sites. I know of at least one active cruiser who does both which is an appealing idea. There is a growing sense that with much of the planning and preparation done, we’re now in our end game prior to heading off ourselves. We’ve gone through the trials of choosing and acquiring Dignity. She is now settled into charter with feedback coming in (from the experienced sailors) which only makes us more excited. We even have our first few years of cruising thought out. It’s now just a question of when do we pull the trigger on all this. Some of the input to our timing is based on financials. These days it feels like we’re in the tumble dryer being knocked about along with our savings. As an IT worker in the banking industry prospects in past years were somewhat better. Rough seas abound today (I work for one of those companies who have a vacant position at the top). We are committed to our dream so as we would in any storm we just need to baton down the hatches, stay alert, do what we have to do and sail on through. And in the meantime, we can continue to look forward to next Feb when we’ll get to see Dignity for the first time. Did I mention we’re excited about this?
